Yasuko Fukuda Scholarship Audition Calls For New Candidates in 2017

20161118top_yasukofukudascholarship.jpgThe Yasuko Fukuda Scholarship Audition calls for new candidates in 2017. This audition is for young promising pianists under 18. After the paper screening next March, 9 candidates will be ajudicated by 60 min interactive lessons and 30 min public performances at the final concert in August. Lessons will be conducted by 3 oversea renowned professors; James Anagnoson (Dean of The Glenn Gould School)/ Hortense Cartier-Bresson (Professor of Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris) / Henri Sigfriedsson (professor of Folkwang Universität der Künste in Essen) . Final result will be examined by those 3 professors and 4 Japanese representatives (executive members of The Yasuko Fukuda Foundation). The scholarship is advised to use exclusively for studying abroad, and will be given to the winner as well as other successful participants in various ways; concerts and masterclass (abroad), lessons and workshops by overseas professors (Japan), etc.

Former winners or participants has made remarkable achievements in international competitions recently. Ryota Yamazaki (1st in 2013) won the Thomas and Evon Cooper International Competition in 2016 / Tomoki Sakata (1st in 2009) won the Liszt International Piano Competition in Budapest in 2016, Finalist of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2013 / Aimi Kobayashi (1st in 2011) became finalist of Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw in 2015 / Kaoru Jitsukawa (2nd in 2007) won the 3rd prize at The Long-Thibaud-Crespin Competition in 2015 /Yukine Kuroki(1st in 2015) won the Grand prize at Balys Dvarionas International Competition for piano and violin in 2016, to name a few.

Shiori Kuwahara, who just won the 2nd prize at the Maria Canals Piano Competition this year, participated in this audition and the PTNA Piano Competition Grade Superior at the same time in 2013, which brought her the second prize and the silver prize respectively. She not only got inspirations by oversea professors at interactive lessons, but also appreciate the scholarship's supports afterward for various studying opportunities in foreign countries, which further encouraged her to study music and arts in a broader scale. Mana Shoji (3rd in 2013) was recommended to participate in a workshop in Tokyo conducted by a pianist Michael Gees, who is well known for the collaboration with a tenor Christoph Prégardien. She was so impressed with his artistry and personality.
