Our Mission

PIANO TEACHERS' NATIONAL ASSOCIATION of Japan, hereafter referred to as PTNA, is a nonprofit organization of professional piano teachers, incorporated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of JAPAN.
Affiliated associations include MTNA (United States), EPTA (Europe), music universities and conservatories throughout the world. PTNA is an internationally acclaimed national association of professional piano teachers incorporated by the Japan Government.

Our mission is to advance the value of piano teachers committed to furthering a higher level of the pedagogical skills, and to explore cultural and artistic activities by ways of piano. We encourage the piano teachers in the community to improve the quality of piano pedagogy and performance studies, promote a rich humanism from music pedagogy, communicate with internal and external associations, and contribute to a broader cultural development. (from Art. IV of the corporation's Statutes)

A network of more than 11,000 members and 300 offices are engaged in the local music pedagogy events. Currently there are over 11,000 PTNA members and 300 branches, offices and "stations" scattered from Hokkaido to Okinawa, which makes it possible to manage and attend numerous local piano activities and workshops, and exchange information among the piano teachers in the community.
