PTNA announces the required repertoires of the 40th PTNA Piano Competition this year. On March 1st, the special seminar for piano teachers was held in Tokyo.  Mitsuyo Esaki gave a key not speech, followed by lectures by 4 professors and pianists about 4 periods from Baroque to Modern (Shohei Sekimoto, Takashi Sato, Hironao Suzuki, and Megumi Kaneko). The video of this seminar will be available through the e-learning service from March 11th.

This competition is designed for pianists of all ages, and there were 43,486 participants last year, the record high number since 1977.  Following the revisions and changes in the duo division last year, the concerto division for two piano is established this year.  The A section requires one movement from concerto for keyboards among J.S.Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven (No.1, 2), and the B section requires one movement from any other piano concertos.

The application forms will be accepted from April 1st, and the preminary rounds will begin from May.

*On March 21st,  concert of the 39th PTNA Piano Competition will be held in Tokyo.
