PTNA Piano Encyclopedia, started in 2002, has been enriching its service with commentaries of each piece, composers' profiles, sound files, concerts information, etc. This time, a new service is added: "Mapping".

This is to show the "map" of whole picture of each piece in terms of musical structure, tonality, cadence, register, etc. We picked up popular pieces such as Burgmüller's 25 etudes, Czerny's 30 etudes, Sonatine Album, Bach's Invention and Sinfonia. This is realized in collaboration with Prof.Tetsuya Akiyama who provides detailed musical analysis on each piece (Currently 121 pieces are shown online). He also investigated how many keys are used in each piece and visualized the register of 700 pieces on the keyboard picture.

Prof.Akiyama said that this is one of the various approaches to get the whole idea of music, and expects it helps in-depth interpretation. Two major music publishers, Ongaku-no-tomo, and Bärenreiter, give permission to encourage this service.
