PTNA Piano STEP, As Rehearsals for PTNA Piano Competition

PTNA Piano STEP can be used as rehearsing opportunities for the upcoming PTNA Piano Competition. There will be 166 venues from May to July across Japan, and there, you may play on stage with grand pianos and receive critical comments from 3 professional advisers. Some venues are also used for the competition.
The number of people who participated in STEP before the competition rounds has been increasing, from 2,206 in 2011(48% of all the free STEP participants) to 3,040 in 2013(52%).
Eri Onishi (12, Gold prize in grade C) loves to play in public and always tries to improve herself. She takes advantage of those performance opportunities and has already played 37 times on stage, both in STEP and PTNA competition.
Marie Matsumoto (Gold prize in grade E) is always trying to explore the touches and sounds that each piece demands. She has played in STEP as a rehearsal of the competition and learned a lot from the comments by the advisers.
