The Grand Prize winner is announced!

20120822_sugawara.jpgIt has been announced that Mr.Nozomu SUGAWARA won the Grand Prize of the 2012 PTNA Piano Competition! He played three sonatas (Haydn, Scriabin, Liszt) and Ayako Iijima as one of the compulsory Japanese works at the semi-final round on Aug.18th, and Liszt piano concerto No.2 at the final round yesterday. Besides the grand prize of 1,000,000yen, he also received a number of extra prizes, as well as the student jury prize. Mr.Sugawara, 22, is currently the senior at the Tokyo University of fine arts and music. The detail profile will come later. Ms.Marina KOKA got the silver prize, together with the audience prize and facebook audience prize. The audience prize is the result of the votes for the best concerto performance at the final round, and half of the total admission income goes to the prize winner (441,750yen). The facebook audience prize, the first experiment this year, had been asking facebook readers to vote for the best solo performance among the 4 finalists.
