Study Seminars for PTNA Piano Competition 2011 will be held next March

101224competitionseminar.jpgTeachers' seminars for the 35th PTNA Piano Competition 2011 will be held on March 1st (solo) at Hamarikyu-Asahi Hall and and 2nd (duo) at Yamaha Hall. This aims at helping piano teachers to study further about the required repertoires, which are divided into four periods. Lecturers are as follows;

-Baroque period: Kikuko OGURA (Lecturer at the Tokyo University of Fine Arts and Music, department of Early Music)

-Classic period: Yuko HISAMOTO (Lecturer at Kunitachi College of Music)

-Romantic period: Miwa YUGUCHI (Lecturer at the Yamaha Special Masterclass)

-Modern period: Yusuke KIKUCHI (Teaching at Tokyo University of Fine Arts and Music, Tokyo College of Music)

-Duo: Akihiko & Miki SAITO (Member of International Piano Duo Association)

-Duo: Takashi FUJII & Yoshie SHIRAMIZU: Lecturer at the Tokyo University of Fine Arts and Music, etc)

 

The required repertoires will be announced on the same day, March 1st.
Required repertoires are selected by the the Repertoire Selection Committee (chairperson: Mitsuyo ESAKI) every year. They are divided into four styles based on the periods from baroque to modern. Especially for the elementary level (grade A2-C), the repertoires are chosen which encourages children to enjoy and discover a variety of rhythm and the beauty of melodies. Japanese compositions* are also included at each grade.
