091002top_kengaku.jpgLesson studio visiting program is designed for piano teachers who would like to study under senior experienced teachers. 18 leading teachers across Japan will cooporate this program and accept 2-10 young teachers. It aims at sharing experiences of advanced piano teaching with younger fellows.

091002_kengaku_kaneko.pngProf.Katsuko Kaneko, one of the board of trustees of PTNA, will accept 10 young teachers on November 8th at her studio in Tokyo.
"Once Mrs.Yasuko Fukuda, the founder of PTNA told us that pianists should be evaluated by their interpretations, whereas teachers are to be evaluated by their teaching skill. One could not become a good teacher in one day, and I myself did tries and errors many times. This time I hope that I will be able to share some of my experiences and belief that I was convinced in my teaching career."

Prof.Naomi Ishii, one of the contributers of this program in Hyogo, will have three younger fellows on Dec.19 at her piano studio. She remind of her early days, "I was at a loss and wondered how I should speak to students, which texts I should use, how to teach them in an effective way, etc. Even now I am trying to be better every day. I wish I could be of help to the three young teachers as well as to be an opportunity to study myself with them."

"I myself observed lessons of experienced teachers many times. It depends on each teacher how students could change themselves; the way of carrying messages, appropriate problem-solving proposals, etc. I noticed that excellent teachers are always attractive from the beginning until the end of the lesson. This time I will be observed, but I myself want to make this opportunity to reexamine my teaching style, by taking new perspectives from young teachers.

"I 've had such a great opportunity to see the lessons of Mr.Takashi Hironaka (pianist) on a regular basis. His way of teaching gave me big hints, which built the basis of my teaching today. I would like to be of good help to young teachers."

The visiting program lasts two and half hours; observe lessons for two hours and have disccusion for 30 min. Afterward, attendants require to fill in the commentary sheet. Attendance and submission of the paper will be evaluated one point on PTNA Piano Seminar point system.
